Mu points said collection points are acupuncture points located on the thorax and abdomen, and which are of great importance in chinese medicine. Let's see together what their use is.

Location of Mu points

There are 12 of these points located on the thorax or abdomen.

You should know that each of these points represents a place of concentration of the Qi of an organ or viscera of which here is the correspondence:

They are the projected shadow of the organ and the viscera, compared to the true organic system. They thus have an important, rapid and direct action with the function of the organ or viscera. This is why I use them during acupuncture or Tuina massage sessions. It happens that pathological manifestations are observed around a given Mu point, this allows us to know that there is damage to the organ in question.

Here are some concrete examples to illustrate this:

  • A person comes to see me for a digestive system illness. She suffers from digestive pain and complains specifically of pain in the epigastrium, with nausea and vomiting. In this case I will work on the point ZhongWan which constitutes the point Mu of theStomach. Cela va permettre de stimuler sa fonction qui est d’harmoniser l’estomac ce qui peut avoir pour conséquences de calmer la douleur et de diminuer les nausées et vomissements ;
  • Another person will complain about constipation. In recent days, she has been going to the toilet a lot less to evacuate her stools. In this case, I will stimulate the Mu point of Large Intestine to know TianShu. This will help harmonize the large intestine which will more easily clear stools. Depending on the reason for constipation, additional points will be chosen;
  • In the case of a person who has had asthma for 3 days and who specifies that their asthma is aggravated by emotions, I can for example use the point Mu Zhong Fu to tone the Lung as well as the Mu point of Liver what QiMen to treat the emotional part;
  • A final example is that of a person who complains about urination blockage. In order to stimulate the evacuation of urine, I will work on the Mu point of the bladder which is ZhongJi. In this way, I will promote the work of the Bladder and allow the evacuation of urine. This point can also be used in case ofincontinence, Of cystitis, Of gynecological problems or sexuality in men.

Of course, I will also work on other points so that the treatment can lead to a good result.

Palpation of Mu points

Palpation of these points makes it possible to determine the condition of an organ. As they are on their stomach and therefore close to the organs, I can easily palpate them. This way I make sure that I am working on the right points. Indeed, when there is a disorder, the point becomes reactive (called 'Ashi' point). This is a point that will be painful on palpation. It may feel cold, hollow or painful.

If I perceive a disorder in a given organ, I will act on its Mu point by dispersing the point if it is fullness, or by toning it if it is a deficiency. In the event that there is cold, I could apply moxa to provide warmth to chase away the cold.
