Well point / jing, wood point.
Location of Yongquan
We imagine a vertical line which cuts the foot in 2 and passes through the 2th toe under the sole of the foot (between the metatarsal and the heel). We divide this line into 3 parts, Yongquan be 1/3 behind the meta head, or 2/3 in front of the heel.
The patient can be asked to curl their toes, a depression will be created. Yongquan is at the center of this depression.
Therapeutic functions of Yongquan
- Yongquan opens the orifices, awakens the mind and purges the heat: syncope, coma;
- Lowest point of the body: lower the yang/fire (especially if the liver yang rises too much) if the yang/fire rises excessively.
If hypertension by rising yang, insomnia + pressure cooker syndrome; - We heat this point to tone the yang of the kidney or to nourish the yin but + for the yang; Never walk barefoot on cold ground otherwise it will damage the yang;
- Manages internal wind because wood point.
