Shu points on the back – Bei Shu Xue
THE Bei Shu points are acupuncture points located on the back, on either side of the spine, and which are of great importance in Chinese medicine. Let's see together what their use is.
Summary
Location of the shu points on the back
There are 12 of them, these points are located on the 1time chain of Bladder meridian, or along the top of the paravertebral muscles.
Indications for back shu points
You should know that each of these points corresponds to a specific organ or viscera, as indicated in the following table:
Name of point Bei Shu | Corresponding organ or viscera |
---|---|
Feishu | Lung |
Jueyinshu | Pericardium |
Xinshu | Heart |
Ganshu | Liver |
Danshu | Gallbladder |
Pishu | Spleen |
Weishu | Stomach |
Sanjiaoshu | Triple Heater |
Shenshu | Kidney |
Dachangshu | Large intestine |
Xiaochangshu | Small Intestine |
Pangguangshu | Bladder |
Here are some concrete examples to illustrate this:
- A person comes to see me because she has little appetite. She suffers from digestive pain which bother her and which occur especially after meals. In this case I will work on the points PiShu And WeiShu which constitute the shu points on the back of the Spleen and of theStomach. This will help stimulate the functions of this pair of organs whose role is to digest food;
- Point ShenShu is the shu point of the back linked to Kidney. As this organ is the one that will nourish and warm all parts of the body, its stimulation will make it possible, for example, to treat a tiredness. As the latter is located in the middle of the lower back, at the level of the 2th lumbar vertebra, I often use it locally this time, to treat the low back pain ;
- A final example is that of a woman who period pain because of an emotional origin, such as anger, which causes a blockage of the circulation of energy in the body. As the Liver is the organ which takes care of the drainage and dispersion of energy in the body, I will therefore stimulate the shu point on the back which corresponds to it either Ganshu. We can work on this same point in a person who suffers from migraines due to emotional disturbances, stress and anger.
You now understand why it is important to know what is causing your pain in order to be able to relieve it effectively.
Palpation of the Bei Shu
